The
Canadian College of Microbiologists (CCM) Distinguished Service Award award
consists of a $1,000.00 honorarium, a plaque, as well as travel expenses
to attend the award presentation. The candidate will
be invited to give a short presentation on their perspective of Microbiology
in their area of expertise at the Annual General luncheon held by the
CCM at AMMI
Canada-CACMID Annual Conference. This award
is presented on a yearly basis, providing there is an acceptable candidate
and that funding is available.
The final selection
of the award winner will reside with the CCM Executive Board.
Criteria: This award is given to members of the Canadian College of Microbiologists
in recognition of outstanding professional contributions to the field
of Microbiology in Canada in the areas of research, teaching and involvement
in the Canadian College of Microbiologists.
Members may be B.Sc., M.Sc, or Ph.D. qualified, and they must have demonstrated
leadership in furthering microbiology at the national level. Their area
of expertise may be in any of the categories where certification is provided
by the College.
Nomination
Process: Nominations may be made by CCM members and must be submitted before January 1 each year
to the CCM
Registrar. The submission should include
a letter of nomination indicating how the
candidate meets the award criteria, as well as a copy of the curriculum
vitae of the nominee.
