Distinguished Microbiologist Service Award
The Distinguished Microbiologist Service Award is given annually to a member of the Canadian College of Microbiologists in recognition of outstanding professional contributions in the categories where certification is provided by the College.
The award consists of a $1,000 honorarium, a plaque, as well as travel expenses to attend the award presentation. This award is presented on a yearly basis at the AMMI Canada-CACMID Annual Conference providing there is an acceptable nominee and that funding is available. The final selection of the award winner resides with the CCM Executive Board.
Criteria: This award is given to members of the Canadian College of Microbiologists in recognition of outstanding professional contributions to the field of Microbiology in Canada in the areas of research, teaching and involvement in the Canadian College of Microbiologists. Members may be BSc, MSc, MD or PhD qualified, and they must have demonstrated leadership in furthering microbiology at the national level. Their area of expertise may be in any of the categories where certification is provided by the College.
Nomination Process: Nominations may be made by CCM members and must be submitted before December 1 each year to the CCM Registrar. The submission should include a letter of nomination indicating how the nominee meets the award criteria, as well as a copy of the curriculum vitae of the nominee.

CCM Student Awards
CCM supports the annual meetings of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists and the AMMI Canada-CACMID by providing two awards at each conference to students who excel in their presentations.
- Canadian Society of Microbiologists(CSM) Annual Conference: CCM Student Poster Award and CCM Symposium Award. The CCM Student Award/Symposium competition is one of the three Top Category awards at the CSM annual conference. Students submit a manuscript of their findings to the CCM for evaluation. If accepted, the students become eligible to compete in a Symposium. Winners each receive $800 and a certificate of recognition. The CCM Student Poster award is given for outstanding poster presentations. Evaluation included the quality of the research being presented and the ability of the student to discuss the work with the judges. - AMMI Canada-CACMID Annual Conference: CCM Student Poster Award and CCM Kenneth Rozee Memorial Poster Award.The awards are based on the quality of the research presented in the poster and the ability of the students to discuss the work with the judges.Abstracts submitted as part of the AMMI Canada-CACMID Annual Conference abstract submission process, must be identified as student posters. The award is open to students, residents and fellows who meet the AMMI-Canada-CACMID requirements for this competition.
